As you age your skin loses elasticity, becomes thinner, more fragile, and progressively, fine lines and wrinkles develop. You may experience the appearance of age spots, broken blood vessels and areas of dryness. Collagen, the skin component which provides firmness, elastin which gives skin its elasticity and rebound, and glycosaminoglycans or GAGs which keep the skin hydrated, all start to diminish with age. That’s why the skin loses its plump, taut and youthfulness. These are all inevitable signs of ageing, and, mostly quite unwelcome, particularly when they occur prematurely. Premature skin ageing can be due to sun exposure, pollution and a negative lifestyle including dietary deficiency, excess sugar consumption, poor stress management, cigarette smoke and excess alcohol. With healthy choices and a regular skincare regime you can help to minimise signs of premature ageing to ensure your skin looks as young as possible.
How to Care for Ageing Skin
A regular skincare regime complete with an anti aging serum is crucial for maintaining firm, supple skin with minimal lines and wrinkles. Cleansing, exfoliating regularly and using powerful anti-ageing boosting serums and moisturisers along with limiting sun exposure, avoiding skin irritants and a healthy diet will help to reduce the signs of premature skin ageing. A special focus on vitamin-based serums is especially beneficial for the preventing and minimising the signs of premature skin ageing.
Your Regular Skincare Regime
Step 1. Cleanse day & night with our Revitalising Foaming Cleanser.
Gentle but effective. Our SLS-free Revitalising Foaming Cleanser will remove any trace of oil, makeup and bacteria, and is suitable for all skin types. We recommend a double-cleanse in the evening as your skin has had the entire day to become clogged up with pollution, makeup, dust, oil and bacteria. Your first cleanse (pre-cleanse) removes this daily build up and isn’t enough to clean your pores thoroughly as this needs to be removed from your skin first. Your second cleanse deep cleans your skin and your pores and ensures you are left with that clean, fresh feeling. This in turn ensures your following serums can be absorbed into your skin for maximum impact.
Step 2. Follow with our Vitamin C Serum 23%
Vitamin C is particularly effective for normal skin types. Our C Serum 23% is a clear serum containing a strong antioxidant complex of 23% Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and Kakadu Plum Extract (natural Vitamin C). A double dose of this collagen producing ingredient is key for younger looking skin.
Step 3. Layer with B Serum
With a double dose of the most sought-after ingredient for hydration, Vitamin B, our B Serum provides maximum skin hydration. Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) revives skin moisture by stimulating new fibroblasts and collagen secretion to reduce fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother appearance. Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) and Hyaluronic Acid work to restore the moisture in your skin, along with Sodium PCA, a strong hydrating agent responsible for binding moisture to the cells. Treating your skin with this powerful serum will help to restore moisture balance and support the function of the protective layer of skin to prevent it from becoming thin and therefore dry, irritated and prematurely aged.
Step 4. A Serum Retinol restorative
Retinol is the hero anti-ageing ingredient for almost every skin type. Its cell turnover accelerating benefits, combined with collagen synthesising performance, can’t be beaten. This Retinol emulsion serum is also brimming with Hyaluronic Acid & a Ceramide complex that restores the glow ageing skin often lacks. It’s best to introduce this serum gradually, so your skin builds tolerance to some of the common impacts of its powerful effects. We recommend starting with 1 –2 nights a week after your cleanser, advancing to nightly use and even if you do experience a little redness or flaking, you persevere, because on the other side of that, is a healthy, rejuvenated complexion. You may layer your night cream (Anti-Ageing Regenerating Formula) over the top of this serum.
