Understanding your Skin
Treating the Number One Priority of Your Skin
Aesthetics Rx® recommended care for specific skin concerns:
Skin Concern
Ageing Skin
As you age your skin loses elasticity, becomes thinner, more fragile, and progressively, fine lines and wrinkles develop. You may experience the appearance of age spots, broken blood vessels and areas of dryness.
Combination Skin
If you have combination skin, your face has dry or flaky areas (cheeks) and often an oily T-zone (nose, chin and forehead). You may also have wrinkles, spots or skin that is susceptible to rosacea.
Dehydrated Skin
Dehydrated skin feels tight, looks dull, and exaggerates the signs of ageing like wrinkles and dark circles beneath the eyes. Like dry skin, redness and inflammation are common signs of dehydration.
Dry Skin
Dry is a skin condition characterised by a lack of oil in the skin. Because skin relies on oil to hold moisture in, without it, skin often feels rough, can look flaky, and wrinkles are more pronounced.
Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of a specific area on the skin’s surface due to increased melanin. Your skin produces melanin to protect itself from the sun.
Normal Skin
Caring for normal skin is relatively easy. You’re lucky to have skin that has good balance and the right amount of water and lipids; however, you must protect these lipids from environmental stressors & UV damage.
Oily Skin
Oily skin occurs due to an overproduction of sebum in the oil glands. You may have shiny areas corresponding to the areas of your cheeks, nose and forehead.
Sensitive Skin
Usually very dry, tends to feel tight and becomes inflamed and irritated easily. Typically, develops reddish and scaly areas, can be itchy and tingly and is prone to breaking into spots and your skin’s natural protective function is impaired.
