Why Your Vitamin C Serum Changes Colour (And Why That’s Okay!)

Once opened, it’s completely normal for your Vitamin C serum to gradually shift from a clear, pale straw colour to a light yellow. This natural change happens as Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is exposed to air and light—a process called oxidation.

The slight colour change means your serum is active and doing its job. It doesn't affect performance as long as it's stored properly (cool, dark place and cap tightly closed).

If it turns deep orange or brown and has a change in smell or texture, that’s when it may be time to replace it.
